Today’s update is brought to you by PORK KNUCKLE…..because it’s a Bavarian foodgasm and it will punch you in the mouth with it’s awesomeness.  Now on with the show…

After a great nights sleep we started our day with a ‘free walking tour’ with Sandeman’s Munich Tour.  I’m not usually a big fan of the “free” tours where you tip at the end but this tour had the most amazing Trip Advisor Reviews it was hard not to give it a go. It was a 3 hour tour and our guide was this lovely little 20 year old lass named India.  There were alot of people on the tour and I felt sure the crowds were going to get on my tits and make me not be able to become besties with the guide but I managed to body slam a few people out of my way so that I could stick like glue to her side and get the most out of my tour.  Poor husband just follows my path of mass destruction with his head down, trying not to make eye contact with the angry villagers carrying bitchforks in my wake.  I make no apologies – this is my holiday and I’m not here to make friends….I’m here to learn about history and beer so I just simply don’t have time to fork around.  I’ll wash away any guilt about my behaviour with beer later on.

Ever since seeing Schindler’s List on my 22^nd birthday (what an incredible piece of cinematography) I have wanted to visit Auschwitz or any concentration camp really for that matter.  It seems like a weird thing to want to do I guess and may be borderline morbid but I think of it more as wanting to learn more about the atrocities we as human’s can inflict on each other and with a hope of doing better than the last few generations in teaching my children not to judge people by the colour of their skin, their ethnicity, their sexual orientation, their politics, their religion etc.  I really just want my children to judge people on whether they are a complete dickheads or not to put it in basic terms.  And for me there is almost a disbelief that people can be so cruel to others and just wanting to learn more about negative things that shaped history.

So picking up where I left off – overnight train travel is not romantic, it is not conducive to sleep, you may get robbed and basically the whole thing can get forked…..but let’s not keep blabbing on about it (who am I kidding, I wrote a whole blog post whining about it).

It’s now 7am on Easter Sunday and we are finally in Munich….with under eye bags resembling something attached to a man’s crotchal area (was that a crime to your imagination right there?), we hail the only cab that was at the station.  Picture this if you will…..a woman cab driver that is old enough to be Betty White’s grandma sitting behind the wheel of a cab so ancient you had to crank the engine with a handle at the front.  My goodness, we ain’t in Kansas or any civilised place anymore Ima thinkin.  To add old insult to old injury this living breathing relic did not appear to know where anything was in Munich.  Our hotel was right next to the Viktualienmarkt which is a very famous food market in the heart of Munich but alas nope nadda.
