Amsterdam & Brussels Day 4 – Anne Frank and more…

March 19, 2021 by thekellysontour 1 Comment

Today started off quite cold, brrrr which of course we loved hahaha.  We are suckers for a crisp beginning to the day. We were both super excited for this morning because we were booked to go and see something we have always wanted to see…..

Anne Frank’s House

I remember reading this book in high school and being so moved by how incredibly well Anne wrote and just stunned at the horror her and her family endured hiding in that hidden annexe of the house for 2 years.  Can you imagine?  I’m not sure whether the book was a class novel or whether just everyone my age read it but Husband and I both agreed going to Anne Frank’s House was a must do!

Amsterdam to Zaanse Schans – Day 3

January 28, 2021 by thekellysontour No Comments

Ahhhh Jet Lag you old Mother Chuffer.  Awake since 3am – ugh!!! Not loving that.

But my friends there is not time to complain – I threw down a bowl of bitchy for breakfast with a sprinkling of yay we are off to explore and we are out the door.

Today we are off adventuring outside of Amsterdam to visit the cutest place called Zaanse Schans.  I’ve been drooling over this place on travel blogs for years and I’m so thrilled to finally go there.  It’s a little dutch township about 20 mins away on the train with quaint houses and windmills and pretty much how I imagine an old town in the Netherlands to look.

Amsterdam Day 2 – soaking up Dutch life

December 27, 2020 by thekellysontour 9 Comments

Well folks…. the blog updates are back by popular demand (well if 3 drunk ladies from my book club a few weeks ago count as “demand”).  Sorry I’ve abandoned you like a toddler in a casino carpark but….2020 is a complete dumpster fire and I haven’t been in the mood to make you laugh.  What a bloody decade this year has been and honestly the thought of not taking another trip until my unborn grandbabies become parents has made me have to close off my heart to all things TRAVEL.

But….it’s time to suck it up and get on with the travel show.  Hopefully I can still remember all the funny stories about people and things I hated on this trip.  Bahahaha who am I kidding, of course I do!!!  Buckle up bitches…..

Amsterdam Day 1 – European Wintery Christmasy Dream Adventure

May 26, 2020 by thekellysontour 4 Comments

Travel Day & Day 1

Well you lucky bunch of blog following bastards – here is the first instalment from the Living in a European Wintery Christmasy Awesomenesss Adventure Dream (I’m gonna need to find a shorter name aren’t I).  Our first stop is Amsterdam but just to refresh your memory here is the blog post that includes our itinerary and plans:- Itinerary awesomeness here.

Allow me to introduce you to my travelling companions.  First up there is Scum Sucking….cough ahem, I mean there is Husband!  I tried to sneak out the door without him but I think that damn guy has some sort of tracking device on me because when I arrived at the airport he came running up panting covered in sweat.  I think he ran the whole way.  Sigh….ok well I guess he can come on my Dream holiday but it’s looking a whole lot less dreamy now.

Oh Mah Gawd - I am the worst at this. For some re Oh Mah Gawd - I am the worst at this. For some reason when we travel I need to have everything plus the kitchen sink.

After our last trip though where we caught Eleventy Hundred Trains and I had to carry my own suitcase on and off - lesson has been learned my friends.

I think I'll just take 3 French horns next time hahaha!
Could this gondola dude look anymore over us and o Could this gondola dude look anymore over us and our cheesy grins 😂. We look so gloriously happy I’d be annoyed too hahaha.
Have you ever done the touristy but compulsory gondola moment????
Who doesn’t love pandas? They are honestly the Who doesn’t love pandas? They are honestly the cutest cuddliest looking things and you can lose hours trolling the videos of pandas doing cute stupid stuff. Husband wanted to see pandas at the Beijing Zoo. I had read mixed reviews about the conditions at the zoo but I knew the pandas enclosures were first rate from being spruced up for the Olympics. So I agreed to go - and I’m so glad I did. Colourful Burbank definitely did not disappoint. W Colourful Burbank definitely did not disappoint. What a beautiful island near Venice it is. Wandering around and admiring all of the colourful houses on a beautiful sunny day was absolute perfection. So great to escape the crowds of Venice and spend time here.
So excited. I've spent the last few days working o So excited. I've spent the last few days working on a new blog and logo for "The Kellys On Tour". Given technology is not my area of expertise - let's face it my skills only extend to drinking champagne, eating bread, cuddling my dog and taking pretty pictures - it was a tough gig and I'm glad it's done.

So after many tears and tantrums here is the new and hopefully improved blog. I am in love with the new logo and feel the new blog is easy to navigate. It still needs some tweaking here and there but the bulk of it is looking good. For a passion project this takes up more time than it should but it's my escape from reality (and let's face it we all need that don't we).

Check it out and let me know how much you love it (because you better love it lol) and if you see some spelling mistakes or a glitch definitely let me know.

Link in Bio.

I've still got tons of writing to do from our last trip and other things I want to ramble on about so now that I'm FINALLY happy with the blog I'm going to get to it! Promise xx
